The Lost Wings of Summer
Recently, I have been Artist in residence at the Centre for Fine Print Research at the University of the West of England at Bristol. I aimed to expand my understanding of hybrid artworks, which utilised both a vintage letterpress machine, as well as digital technology and production processes. The ‘Lost Wings of Summer’ creates a requiem for thirteen British Butterflies, five of which are extinct: the other eight species are on the endangered list. The 'Lost Wings of Summer' highlights biodiversity loss and is a dialogue between paper cut, embossed print and paper sculpture.
